Labored Lecture

Is there anything better than returning to work the day after a long weekend dedicated to the workforce? Yes. There are many (so many) things better than that, but here we are.

The last few years have come with many lessons, and the value of work is a big one. What that “value” is? Well, that is still very much up for debate.

Worth Fighting For

It’s the Fourth of July. A day where, in the U.S.. we celebrate our independence. I’ve written and rewritten these thoughts countless times. The Supreme Court’s decision regarding Roe v. Wade has been coloring my view; frankly, I’ve been struggling to find a reason to celebrate the United States today (or any day). I’m not ready to break out the sparklers, but here is where I’m at.

Diverting Doodles

There are few things more inspiring or intimidating than a blank page for a writer. Recently, I’ve found myself on the intimidating side of that spectrum. It’s not due to a shortage of ideas. I have countless drafts and a meandering train of thoughts to back me up on that claim.

Role Reversal

The current conversation surrounding the reversal of Roe v. Wade has been on my mind a lot over the past few weeks. I’ve tried to stay clear of political issues on here thus far, but I would argue that a woman’s right to bodily autonomy isn’t something that should be debated or determined by politics. So, excuse me while I dip my toe into these infuriatingly controversial waters.

Promising Prognostication

Welcome to the darkest day of winter. Not literally, that was back in December for those of us in the northern hemisphere. Today is more of a darkness for the soul. A day so deep in despair that we turn to a man who claims to communicate with an immortal rodent who has a side-hustle in meteorology.

Complimentary Ennui

For the northern hemisphere, we’re smack dab in the middle of the winter blues. No matter what hemisphere you’re in, we’re approaching the two-year mark of a global pandemic. And if you don’t have emotional whiplash from the never-ending stream of instructions to “stay home,” but also “get back out there and support x, y, and z,” please share your secret sorcery with me.
