I recently made a trip to visit a trio of lion cubs at my local zoo. They were just the right combination of fluff and chaotic cuteness. Following each other around the habitat, occasionally checking in with mom or taking a playful swipe/pounce at one of their siblings.
It was a pleasant, wholesome way to spend an afternoon. The highlight; however, was not the little lions. It was the expressions of childlike joy peering through the glass, taking in the adorable antics.
At this point, I’m guessing your picturing the wide eyed wonder of tinies and toddlers, but on this particular trip, that was not the case. The eager, excited, smiling faces pressed up against the glass were in fact, adults.
It was heartwarming and a nice reminder of the simple power of a shared smile.
