Spring is just around the corner here in the northern hemisphere, which means we’re in the final days of winter. While many may be more than ready to bid a fond farewell to the freezing temps, I am not one of them.
That’s not to say I don’t enjoy spring. I went out this past week searching for the first floral signs of the changing seasons and was pleased to find some snowdrops amidst the snowflakes.
Perhaps it’s my seasonal allergies speaking, but I enjoy winter’s clean, crispness. The sharpness of the cold. The softness of the snow. I love the coziness of it all.
Of course, the thing about winter, and all seasons, is that despite our best efforts and climate inaction, they do come around again…for those of us who live in temperate climates.
Goodbye, for now, to the brisk walks, the frozen eyelashes, the snow-frosted landscapes, the unexpectedly slick strides, and the surprisingly graceful stuck landings. You will be missed, by a few of us anyways.
See you next year…and probably later this spring.
Be Kind. Be Brave. Stay Awkward.
