One of my rituals for a new year is starting a new planner. I generally pick a weekly planner that matches, what I hope the vibe will be for that year. This year, I took a different approach.
I went with a straightforward, no-frills 2025 planner. It has the year and nothing else on its cover. It gives nothing away aside from the moment in time to which it bears witness. I suppose its color (or lack thereof) could suggest a dark and empty abyss, but I choose to see it as a blank slate.
Blank slates and empty abysses aside, the true value and potential of a planner isn’t its cover. It’s what lies in between. A cover may seem to set the tone or proclaim the theme for the year, but you decide what ends up on its pages.
I know we’re in the second week of February, but a new-year mindset isn’t confined to the first month of the year. You can choose to make some changes and rethink what you want to fill your weekly planner with whenever you want.
Be Kind. Be Brave. Stay Awkward.
