It’s been nearly three weeks since I started decorating for the holidays. As evidenced by the photo above, I love me some twinkle lights, tangles and all.
In the past, I may not have stated this so proudly or boldly. However, the past 18ish months have offered many lessons, one of those being if it brings you joy and it isn’t hurting anyone, go for it.
Yes, there will be those who claim offense. Yes, they will be the loudest. Yes, they will try and make you feel responsible for their less-than-festive behavior.
BUT…and that’s in all caps because it’s important…you don’t have to pay attention to them.
I know. I know. It’s easier said than done. It takes practice and intent, but it is more than worth the effort.
Barring an intervention of Dickensian proportions, the Scrooges’ of the world are not going to miraculously change their outlook on the world.
They will be just as unhappy regardless of the date on which you decide to switch to your holiday decor. So, why not make your days a little brighter with a touch (or a tangle) of twinkle.
